Erie County Division of Sewerage Management
Our mission is to provide cost effective, customer oriented, environmentally conscious wastewater service that protects public health and enhances our natural environment.
This program works to prevent sewer line blockages through education and enforcement of proper FOG management. Approximately 25% of Sanitary Sewer Overflows (SSOs) are caused by FOG blockages. SSOs are discharges of raw sewage that can harm both human health and the environment.
Below are links to printed materials, as well as a short video demonstrating Best Management Practices (BMPs). Although these materials are geared toward facilities, the brochure contains information that can be applied to residential FOG management.
