JANUARY 1, 2007 DECEMBER 31, 2007

Akron, NY The Village of Akron, in conjunction with the Independent Energy Efficiency Program, Inc. (IEEP), will renew their new ENERGY STAR® appliance program called The Akron Appliance Advantage. This program's goal is to encourage Akron residential electric customers to upgrade their appliances to ENERGY STAR® labeled models. With the purchase and installation of an ENERGY STAR® labeled home appliance, Akron electric customers can receive incentives of up to $125 per appliance. There is a maximum incentive of $1,000 per customer for this program.

The Village of Akron has been offering energy efficiency programs to their customers since the mid 1990's. Deputy Mayor Michael R. Middaugh, stated "We assist our customers by offering energy efficient products like ENERGY STAR® labeled appliances, which in turn has a positive effect on the environment, reduces our customer's electric costs, and our peak electric load."

ENERGY STAR® labeled products use state of the art technology and require less money and less energy to operate, while still offering superior performance. By choosing ENERGY STAR® labeled appliances, electric ratepayers in Akron can make a difference in protecting the environment and reducing their electric costs. Incentives are available for air conditioners, ceiling fans, clothes washers, dehumidifiers, dishwashers, electric hot water heaters, programmable thermostats, and refrigerators.

Residential electric customers can receive more information and obtain an application at The Village Office, located at 21 Main Street or you may download the application from our website at www.erie.gov/akron
