The Village of Akron offers a number of high quality services to residents and businesses located within village limits. The facilities and employees that make these municipal services available are sized to support the Village taxpayers that support the infrastructure through property taxes.
In certain cases, Village services are provided outside village limits, where the Board of Trustees has determined that cost savings would result in helping the Village keep utility rates low, serve a specific purpose for Village residents or businesses, where such action is legally correct. Typically rates outside village limits are twice those of taxpayers within the Village.
The Village encourages annexation of adjacent property to receive municipal services.
