Water
The Village of Akron has its own municipal water system. Akron is a member of the New York Rural Water Association. See www.nyruralwater.org for further information.
The Akron Water System has consistently received the highest accolades for water quality in New York State.
Current water rates are as follows:
- Inside Village Residential Rates
$33.75 minimum which includes (5) five thousand gallons or less of water. Each additional (1) one thousand gallons are billed at $6.75 per thousand gallons. - Residential Easement Rates
$40.00 minimum which includes (5) five thousand gallons or less of water. Each additional (1) one thousand gallons are billed at $7.85 per thousand gallons. - Inside Village School and Industrial Rates
$675.00 minimum which includes the first 100,000 gallons or less of water. Each additional (1) one thousand gallons are billed at $6.75 per thousand gallons.
Water is billed on a quarterly basis. To receive an application, or seek answers to any water billing questions, contact the Clerk-Treasurer. For information about availability of water service, or if you have water service problems, contact the Superintendent of Public Works.
