Program/Special event coordinator. P/T position 9-2pm M-F. Experience in planning and implementing programs, activities, and services required. BS/BA preferred Must be organized, creative, self starter with computer proficiency, ability to lead, multi task and effectively relate with seniors. Clarence resident preferred. The Center is open Monday through Friday from 9 to 4 and on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 until 9:30 p.m. Bus transportation, within Town boundaries, is provided to and from the Center and to area shopping malls four days each week between 9:30 and 4:00 p.m.

The Clarence Senior Center opened its doors in 1981. The building is owned and maintained by the Town, who also provides a limited operational funding stipend. The Center, it programs and staff is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of 15 members under the administration of Clarence Senior Citizens, Inc.

The mission of the Clarence Senior Center is to provide social, educational, recreational, and nutritional programs to those residents in the Town who are 55 plus years of age.

Membership dues are $5.00 for individuals and $7.50 for couples for Town Residents. Associate membership is available to those who no longer live in the Town and have a history of ten years or more of prior residency. Associate membership fees are $12.00 yearly, $18.00 per couple. Membership applications can be filled out at the Center office. A tour will serve to acquaint and orient new members. New member socials are held throughout the year. The Silver Streak, a mailed, monthly newsletter provides on-going information regarding programs and activities.

To fulfill our mission, the Clarence Senior Center, via its Programming and Special Events Departments, present any and all activities that are of interest and entertainment that are possible within the building and where transportation can be arranged.

The Center provides an avenue to share experiences, encourage independence and enhance dignity as its programs and activities stimulate the lives of its membership. To many members, the Center and the camaraderie it provides is the only "family" that they have contact with on a regular basis.

Staff at the Center is certified in First Aid, CPR, and AED (Automatic External Defibrillator), so that accidents and incidents are addressed until emergency medical services arrive.

GOING PLACES VAN TRANSPORTATION SERVICE

Do you have places to go, people to see, groceries to purchase, or appointments to keep? If you are age 60 and older, please call 858-RIDE between 8:30 am - 4:30 pm Monday thru Friday to arrange a ride with - The Erie County Going Places Van.

Your curb-to-curb service is just a phone call away. The cost is a confidential, voluntary contribution; suggested contribution is $2.00 per one-way trip or $4.00 round-trip.

Priorities for Van Services: Health Related, Food & Nutrition, Personal Business and Social Activities.

Rural Transit Van - This is available Monday - Friday and is wheelchair accessible. Call 741- 9709 to schedule an appointment. Please leave a message and they will return your call.
