As Executive Director of the Town of Clarence Youth Bureau, I will strive to improve services and opportunities for young people in our community. The Youth Bureau is always open to community input and welcomes any suggestions.

Youth Volunteer Program

The Clarence Youth Volunteer Program provides opportunities for youth ages 12-20 to volunteer their time to local agencies and organizations through a variety of service activities. Volunteers are sent a monthly calendar of activities to choose from. Youth will have the opportunity to work with children, senior citizens, people with disabilities, or simply lend a hand at community events. The program operates on a year-round basis with activities taking place after school, evenings, and weekends.

Join the Youth Volunteer Program: Contact the Youth Bureau at 407-2162, or download the application below

Youth Volunteer Recognition Ceremony

In May of every year we have our youth volunteer recognition ceremony. This event is designed to recognize the dedication of our youth volunteers during that past year. Volunteers will receive awards based on the amount of hours served. Other prestigious awards are giving out to the top youth volunteer, top youth volunteer organization and friend of youth and the president's award. For more information please see link below.

Programs

The Youth Bureau offers a variety of programs, classes and workshops to youth in our community

Resource Library

The Youth Bureau has a resource library with materials that can be borrowed by teachers, parents, students and others in the community. The library includes books, videos, pamphlets, and brochures. Some of the books have reproducible worksheets that can be used for various activities. The intent is to encourage parents, teachers, teens, and all leaders in the Clarence community to grow in the knowledge of the 40 developmental assets - everyday, positive things that young people need to succeed.

Resource and Referral

The Clarence Youth Bureau provides efficient, coordinated resource and referral information linking families with community resources. Services are confidential and free of charge.

Special Events/Activities

Youth Bureau staff plan many special events throughout the year, including: Holiday Craft Projects, Parent Time Out, Winterfest, Leadership Trainings and Conferences, Field Trips, and many others. Youth are active in planning and participating in many of these events.

Youth Board

The Youth Board is a citizen's advisory council to the Clarence Youth Bureau. The Youth Board meets monthly with Youth Bureau staff to assess youth needs, determine program priorities and involve youth as leaders in the planning and coordination of activities. It is comprised of 15 members from the community including at least 4 high school student representatives.

Youth and Family Survey Report

Through a unique collaborative effort between the Town of Clarence Youth Bureau and the Clarence Central School District, a study of youth services was conducted in the Clarence community. With the assistance of faculty and students from the University at Buffalo and funding from a United Way grant awarded to the Clarence School district, the study is aimed to assess and better respond to the existing needs of youth and families.
