10-27-06 - October Storm Update from the Supervisor
(Including Halloween Information, bike paths, brush...)
The Town still remains in a State of Emergency and a Travel Advisory is still in effect. Please watch for branches, especially at intersections, curves in the roads and backing out of driveways. Be aware that emergency crews continue to work in Clarence.
The Highway Department, with help from the contractors through the ECO, will be clearing the brush until the entire town is clear, weather permitting. Brush should not be placed on the roads or placed where it could block fire hydrants, gas meters, phone boxes, etc. Brush should be parallel to the road, adjacent to the road, not in it. Other debris should not be included in the brush piles. Town crews will be working from 7:00 am - 7:00 pm.
Halloween will be celebrated as scheduled on Tuesday, October 31 from 5:00 to 8:00. If parents have safety concerns about children in neighborhoods inundated with debris, the Zion Lutheran Church on Clarence Center Road has generously scheduled a Halloween party at their location from 6 - 7:30 pm for children through grade 6. (Zion Church is looking for volunteers and or candy donations.) Call 741-2656 if you can help. Eastern Hills Mall is also celebrating "Malloween" on Sunday, October 29th from 1 pm - 4pm. We would advise parents to walk with their children, use flash lights and please be safe.
The Clarence bike path from Wehrle to Davison is now open. The Parks Department is working on the Peanut Line and hope to have that open by the weekend. If the closed sign is posted, we ask that you do not use the path for your own safety.
Reminder - The Clarence Fillmore Cemetery Tour for October 28th has been cancelled.
Unfortunately, there is a Weather Advisory this weekend with a high wind warning. These winds could gust as high at 55 MPH. There is a chance that the winds could bring down tree limbs and power lines... hampering the still ongoing cleanup process from the Mid October Storm.
Again, thank you for your continued patience as Storm cleanup continues.
