Clubhouse Restoration Committee with the assistance of the Parks Department was able to bring a Historic clock back to the Clubhouse. The clock was moved to the Historical Museum in the 1970's and has recently been moved back to the Clubhouse, in a protective case. With the help of the restoration committee, the Clubhouse is being restored to some of the original look. New lights, carpet and paneling have been part of the committees work. The committee is still accepting donations to continue the work on this very old building in our Town Park. Tax exempt donations can be mailed to Linda Dugan - 8643 Howard Drive, Williamsville, NY 14221 and should be made payable to "Friends of Clarence-Clubhouse." |

Clarence Log Cabin Quilters

|
| Clarence Log Cabin Quilters designed and produced the Town of Clarence Bicentennial Quilt -
March 11, 2008 is the Town's 200th Birthday
|
|
Almost three years ago the Clarence Log Cabin quilters were approached by the town and asked if they would make a quilt to help celebrate the town's 200th birthday in 2008. The challenge was accepted and the work was begun.
This lovely original quilt is 96 inches by 120 inches and is made of cotton with thin polyester batting. The images appliquéd onto the oval were made by various members of the guild and represent buildings and objects that are significant to the town's history. The colorful log cabin blocks involved many members' work and have embroidered names of town founders on them as well as names of living persons. Ransom Creek and the train track meandering across the quilt were also important to the development of Clarence. Common to Clarence is the Shag Bark Hickory tree and its leaves and nuts are in black silhouette on the border along with Native American arrowheads. The bicentennial logo was designed by local resident Jeffrey Feinen and it appears on many bicentennial items. Approximately 83 members spent 1100 hours producing
this quilt.
The Town Park Clubhouse will permanently house this quilt where it will be preserved and protected while allowing the community to view and appreciate a part of Clarence's history.
