GRAND OPENING OF EIGHTH JUDICAL DISTRICT COURT RESOURCE CENTER IN SPACE PROVIDED BY THE ERIE COUNTY CLERK'S OFFICE

Honorable Judge Sharon S. Townsend, Administrative Judge of the Eighth Judicial District, Erie County Clerk Kathy Hochul and Cheryl Smith Fisher President of the E.C. Association recently announced the formation a legal Resource Center to guide citizens through our court system.

In partnering with the Eight Judicial District, County Clerk Hochul said that she was pleased to provide the space needed for the facility on the first floor of Old County Hall, 92 Franklin St. Room 105 "Those less fortunate will no longer be without help and feel left out of the legal process that they have every right to," said Hochul.

Judge Townsend pointed out that the Resource Center will be a one-stop venue that will provide unrepresented litigants, members of the public and attorneys with information to assist them with navigating their way through the complexities of the court system. The center will have a staff of two court attorneys and a court clerk that will distribute sample forms and referral information for legal services that are available throughout WNY. Public access computer terminals will also be available.
