Information For Recording Documents

1. All personal checks require identification and must have the name and telephone number for attorney or title company on the reverse, if applicable.



2. Checks should be made out to the ERIE COUNTY CLERK in the exact amount.



3. Black ink is preferred for all recorded documents.



4. In order to ensure the return of documents to the proper party, the return address should be on the documents to be recorded.



5. Supreme Court and County Court documents must include an INDEX number and the name of the judge assigned (if applicable). Index numbers are available for purchase in the Actions and Proceedings Department.
