ECHO Entry Team Leader Honored In Washington

Mike Bethge Honored by Congressman Jack Quinn ECHO member and Entry Team Captain Mike Bethge has received the 1999 Assocation of American Railroads Employee Environmental Excellence Award. The award to the employee demonstrating outstanding environmental performance was presented to Mike by Congressman Jack Quinn (R) from Mike's home town of East Aurora, NY A locomotive engineer for CSX, Mike is also a Sentinel for CSX and is the first line of defense during an environmental emergency.

In presenting the award to Mike, Congressman Quinn said "it is wonderful to have such a dedicated and environmentally minded resident here in Western New York, not only from a pride point of view but from a safety point of view. It is reassuring to know how conscious and prepared our railroads are of environmental issues." Michael Bethge deserves this prestigious award.

A dedicated member of ECHO, the Erie County Hazardous Materials Response Organization, Mike is responsible for all aspects of Entry at a hazmat scene. As Entry Team Captain, he not only participates as an entry member but also coordinates the entry of the team. The ECHO Team congratulates Mike Bethge on this well deserved award. Back to top
