SOFTBALL REGISTRATION TO START

The Town of Lancaster Parks Recreation & Forestry Department is proud to announce registration for Men's, Coed and Men's 37 and Over softball for 2009. Registration will take place from March 23rd , 2009 until April 1st, 2009 at the Recreation Office at 525 Pavement Rd. Teams from 2008 will be contacted by mail. Town of Lancaster Offers Free Summer Basketball League

The Town of Lancaster Recreation Department will once again offer a free summer basketball league for boys and girls ages 8-15 at Keysa Town Park. The program will be held on Tuesday & Friday mornings beginning on Tuesday, June 30, and will run until Friday, July 31. Town of Lancaster to Begin Summer Recreation Program

The Town of Lancaster has kicked off the start of the summer recreation program. This summer's activities will be full of fun and exciting ways for your children to spend their summer days. We began the program on Monday June 29. The sites are as follows: Hillview Elementary, Bowmansville Fire Hall, Meadow Lea Park, West Drullard, Keysa Park, Como Park School, Twin District Fire Hall, and Westwood Park. A typical day begins at 8am or 8:30am depending on the location. Arts and Crafts are offered for the first two hours of the day and cost $.25 each. There are field trips once a week and tournaments approximately twice a week. Each playground site is provided with ample sports equipment and eager playground leaders. The children and their leaders will engage in games to pass the afternoon time when there are no scheduled events.

There are many fun tournaments and fieldtrips scheduled for this summer. On Friday, July 10, the Recreation Department has planned our first field trip to the Transit Lanes for a fun day of bowling. Other field trips include Maid of the Mist, Miniature Golf, Canoeing and Ropes Course, Bison's Baseball Game, LaserTron, Buffalo Bills Camp, and Darien Lake. The Town of Lancaster Recreation Department will be hosting its annual track qualifier at the Lancaster High School Track on Wednesday, July 15, 2009. This is a rain or shine event. Registration will begin at 10:00 a.m. sharp. Participants will have the opportunity to qualify for the Town of Tonawanda Track Meet on Wednesday, August 5, 2009. Transportation will be provided to playground sites. All events are divided into boys and girls age groups. The age groups are as follows:

Pee Wee          7 and under
Bantam            8-9
Midget             10-11
Junior              12-13
Intermediate     14-15

All Lancaster and Depew residents are welcome to participate in this event. If there are any questions, please call the recreation department at 684-3320.

Town of Lancaster Recreation Offers Men's Basketball Program

The Town of Lancaster Parks & Recreation Department will kick off the Men's Choose-Up Basketball program beginning Monday, September 28 at the Lancaster Middle School gym. The program will run from 6:30pm to 9:00pm each Monday through April 12, 2010. This program is available to all Town of Lancaster and Lancaster Central School district residents, 18 years of age and older.

The Department prefers that you have a Town Recreation Photo ID card to participate in the program. To obtain a Recreation ID you must come to the Recreation office located at 525 Pavement Road with two items showing proof of residency (driver's license, current utility bill, Board of Elections card, etc.). There is not a cost for the ID cards and they are good for two years. Additionally, you must be under contract to participate in the program.

Family Swim Program

Town of Lancaster Parks & Recreation to Offer Family Swim

The Town of Lancaster Parks & Recreation Department will once again offer Family Swim on Friday evenings beginning Friday, September 25, 2009 and ending on Friday, May 14, 2010. The program runs from 7:30pm - 9:30pm. at the Lancaster High School Pool located at 1 Forton Drive. The cost is $20 per family for the season.

This is a recreational swim. A lane marker is installed for those family members who wish to do swim laps. Water basketball, fins, noodles, kickboards and balls are available.

Families may sign up in the pool area on Friday, September 25 and thereafter. You must be a Town of Lancaster resident or a Lancaster School District resident to participate in the program. For more information, call the Recreation office at 684-3320.
