COUNTY FUNDS IMPROVE BALLPARK FOR FANS
On Friday, April 16th, Erie County Legislature Chairman George A. Holt, Jr. and other legislators gathered at Dunn Tire Park to celebrate the 2004 Home Opening Day for the Buffalo Bisons.
Legislature Chairman Holt said: "We are delighted to celebrate with the Bisons their 119th professional baseball Home Opener in Buffalo. Erie County government is pleased that we could assist the City of Buffalo and the Bisons in making these major new improvements in seating, concessions, and restrooms at Dunn Tire Park and look forward to more improvements that will benefit the team and help its many fans throughout Western New York to enjoy many wins this year and next."
Under an inter-municipal agreement with the City of Buffalo and the Bisons, Erie County has provided $5 million for capital improvements and upgrades to Dunn Tire Park, including the recent construction of a new grassy knoll and new outfield seating - the Heron's Landing Party Deck four-tier deck in right field. Other major improvements in 2003 and 2004 paid for by the County include new plumbing, electrical, and heating and air conditioning systems, new restrooms and seating and weatherproofing and painting.
Legislator Edward Kuwik (D-Blasdell), whose district includes Dunn Tire Park, stated: "Ever since this ballpark opened in 1988, the Bisons and the Rich Family have had a great partnership with Erie County and the City. We look forward to continuing that teamwork on the field, and off the field."

"The Bisons and the ballpark are true regional treasures which add to the quality of life for Western New York families," said Legislator Timothy M. Wroblewski (D-West Seneca/South Cheektowaga), Chair of the Legislature's Community Enrichment Committee which oversees Dunn Tire Park issues.
"Bisons games not only provide excellent entertainment on their own, they also draw people from across the region to downtown Buffalo, which benefits other local businesses," said Legislator Demone A. Smith (D-Buffalo).
"This team effort between the City and the County is a fine example of responsible collaboration which aids a struggling city," said Legislator Albert DeBenedetti (D-Buffalo).
"Attractions such as Dunn Tire Park play a role in the broader picture of improving the area surrounding our waterfront," said Legislator Mark J. F. Schroeder (D-Buffalo/Cheektowaga).
"We are pleased to support improvements which help the wonderful Western New York sports fans better enjoy the great American pastime," concluded Legislator Raymond K. Dusza (D-Cheektowaga/Depew).
