COUNTY TO HOLD MEETINGS ON CITY-COUNTY PARK MERGER PROPOSAL

The Erie County Legislature has scheduled two meetings to discuss and hear comments on the proposal for the County to assume the responsibility for operation and maintenance of the City of Buffalo parks system.

On Tuesday, June 1st, 2004 at 11:00AM the Erie County Legislature's Government Affairs Committee will meet to discuss the details of the inter-municipal agreement. All interested parties, including representatives from City government, County government, the City and County unions, Buffalo Olmsted Conservancy and the Buffalo Control Board have been invited to address the committee and answer questions about the cooperative contract. The meeting will be held in the Legislature's Chambers on the 2nd Floor (former Part 6 courtroom) in County Hall - 92 Franklin Street. This meeting will be open to the public, however public comment will not be heard until a public hearing the following week.

The Legislature will also host a public hearing at 7:00PM on Monday, June 7th, 2004. The public hearing will be held at the Buffalo Museum of Science Auditorium.

"I encourage residents and other interested parties to share their opinion with the Legislature at the public forum on June seventh," said Legislature Majority Leader Lynn Marinelli, Chair of the Government Affairs Committee.

Majority Leader Marinelli also noted that individuals not able to attend are invited to send written testimony to Kevin Kelley, the Clerk of the Legislature, at Erie County Legislature, 25 Delaware Avenue, 7th Floor, Buffalo, NY 14202 before June 8th.
