LEGISLATORS ANNOUNCE HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION DAY Members of the Erie County Legislature's Democratic Caucus announce a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 17th, Praxair, located at 175 East Park Drive in the Town of Tonawanda. This event is co-sponsored by Erie County and the Town of Tonawanda. People should use the actual Praxair entrance on Woodward Avenue, the first traffic light south of the Military Road intersection with Sheridan Drive. No appointments are necessary and there is no charge. All County residents are encouraged to participate by bringing their hazardous products to this site, including oil-based paints (up to 10 gallons), paint thinners, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, waste solvents, gasoline, motor oil and antifreeze, lead acid and dry cell batteries, propane tanks and cylinders, automobile tires, and mercury. No commercial or industrial hazardous waste will be accepted. Restrictions may apply and participants may be required to certify that wastes are generated by households. Erie County will also provide a Household Hazardous Waste Collection day on September 11th.
