LEGISLATOR KOZUB, SOIL AND WATER DISTRICT ANNOUNCE ANNUAL TREE AND SHRUB SEEDLING PROGRAM
Erie County Legislator Daniel M. Kozub (D-Lackawanna) is announcing that the Erie County Soil and Water Conservation District is offering its annual conservation tree and shrub seedling program sale, and accepting orders of 34 varieties of trees and shrubs through March 16.
Orders are due by Friday, March 16, 2007, and items can be picked up Saturday, April 14, at the Fairgrounds in Hamburg. The 1-3 year-old bare root seedlings range from 6 to 24 inches tall and are available in lots of 10 to 500. Seedling combination packs and wildflower seed mixes designed to attract wildlife are also available through the program. The district is also offering an expanded selection of four-year old evergreen transplants which are more mature trees with thicker stems, more branching and more developed roots.
People can get more information on how to acquire the order forms by visiting Legislator Kozub's district office at 609 Ridge Road, Lackawanna, or by calling 822-0462, or by contacting the Soil and Water Conservation District at 652-8480.
