Legislator Kennedy announces HEAP Outreach Locations
Applications for seniors available at district office
Legislator Tim Kennedy announces the locations of the 2007 Heat and Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) Outreach Program for his district. HEAP applications are currently available in his office at 1928 South Park Avenue or by contacting the HEAP hotline.
The Outreach Program will be visiting Legislator Kennedy's district on the following dates:
- January 30th – Valley Community Center, 93 Leddy Street, Buffalo.
- January 31st – Cheektowaga Town Hall, 3301 Broadway, Cheektowaga.
- February 28th – Sloan Village Hall, 425 Reiman Street, Sloan.
- (March date TBD) – Tosh Collins Community Center, South Buffalo.
HEAP Outreach site hours are from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM unless otherwise indicated. Interviews are conducted on a first come, first serve basis. Only the first 80 citizens to sign in are guaranteed service.
"These types of programs are an asset to the public," Kennedy said, "When you have multiple pieces of paperwork to fill out, applying for services can become confusing. With the help of outreach program sites like these, citizens are informed of eligibility and aided in the process of applying without dealing with the complications of traveling to the downtown HEAP office or speaking to someone over the telephone."
The Outreach program not only assists citizens with their applications, but provides additional services such as, complimentary ID cards for senior citizens and blood pressure screening for all adults. Services may vary depending on the Outreach location.
If you need more information, please contact the Erie County Department of Senior Services HEAP hotline at 858-7870 or Legislator Tim Kennedy's district office at 824-6180. The 2006-07 Outreach project is a joint departmental effort between the Erie County Departments of Social Services and Senior Services.
