A recent fundraiser held at the well-known Gene McCarthy's Irish Pub in the Old First Ward raised over $2000 for the neighborhood's community food pantry with the help of Legislator Tim Kennedy, Assemblyman Mark Schroeder, and former Deputy County Executive Jim Keane.

The guest trio donated their time tending bar for tips which were donated to benefit The Old First Ward Community Center's Buffalo River Food Pantry Program and annual Christmas Party.

"We are very thankful for all of the efforts put forth to raise money for our food pantry," said Laura Kelly, Executive Director of The Old 1st Ward Community Center, "We will now have the resources to reach out to assist more families in our community."

"We are all happy to have had such an opportunity to help out The Old First Ward Community Center," said Erie County Legislator Tim Kennedy, "This is a small request for a center that is the stage for so many great neighborhood initiatives."

Accompanying the guest bartender's contributions, were donations made by Rigidized Metals, Peter K. Leslie and Morgan Linen Services to name a few.
