KENNEDY TEAMS UP WITH ATTORNEY GENERAL CUOMO TO PROTECT CHILDREN FROM SEXUAL PREDATORS

WORK ON COMBATING SENIOR CITIZEN FRAUD CONTINUES

Over the past few months, Erie County Legislator Tim Kennedy has been teaming up with Attorney General Andrew Cuomo's Office to bring important information regarding fraud and identity theft to the senior citizens residing in the nine neighborhoods of the second legislative district.

In addition to the senior fraud presentation, which has received high marks, Kennedy and New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo's Office will be bringing important information to community centers and block club meetings regarding the protection of children's safety from online sexual predators.

Kennedy, a long time advocate of the protection of children from sexual predators, who has fought for harsher penalties for sex offenders, will join in helping the Attorney General's Office inform parents of the dangers their children may face due to the increase in social networking capabilities.

"Educating parents on how to monitor their children's web access can prevent inappropriate communication," said Kennedy. "Technology has opened an entirely new cyber frontier, one that is wonderful if used properly. I am proud to team up with Attorney General Cuomo's office and serve alongside of him as a community enforcers. Together we will make sure that those who try to victimize our children are stopped dead in their tracks."

The numerous successes and consistent feedback from the senior fraud presentations showed that the people living in the district welcomed these types of programs. Because of this, Kennedy once again enlisted the help of the Attorney General's Office when it came to internet danger and cyber crime education.

"The seniors in attendance at the fraud presentations received a plethora of information, including the most up to date facts and figures. I am confident that when it comes to internet safety, people attending the newest round of presentations will leave with more information than they bargained for," stated Kennedy.

"Attorney General Cuomo is making our children's safety and our senior's security top priorities," said Kennedy. "I am honored to be involved with both of these programs."

The next presentation offered by Legislator Kennedy and the Attorney General's Office will take place on Tuesday, March 31st at 6:00 PM at the Valley Community Association located at 93 Leddy Street. This presentation will deal with internet safety. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Legislator Kennedy's office at 824-6180.
