LEGISLATOR KENNEDY ANNOUNCES CONSERVATION TREE AND SHRUB SEEDLING PROGRAM AVAILABLE

(January 31, 2008, Buffalo, NY) Legislator Tim Kennedy announces that orders are being accepted for the Erie County Soil & Water Conservation District’s Annual Conservation Tree and Shrub Seedling Program sale. Orders are due March 20, 2008 and pickup will be on April 19, 2008 at the Erie County Fairgrounds in Hamburg.

The 2008 selection has 34 varieties of trees and shrubs chosen for conservation uses and practices. The one to three-year-old bare root seedlings range from 6 to 24 inches tall and are available in lots of 10 to 500. Seedling combination packs and wildflower seed mixes designed to attract wildlife are also available through the program. This year the District is also offering an expanded selection of four-year-old evergreen transplants, which are more mature trees with thicker stems, more branching and more developed roots.
