The Faculty Federation of Erie Community College (FFECC) honored Erie County Legislator Tim Kennedy during their awards dinner this past week at the Blackthorn Restaurant. The Federation presented Legislator Kennedy with their “Friend of Education Award” for his role in Erie Community College’s budget process during last years County crisis.

“We have honored Legislator Kennedy tonight for his hard work and cooperation with ECC,” Andy Sako, President of the FFECC said, “He was instrumental in bringing all sides, labor and administration, to the table while forming the 2006 ECC Budget.”

“We would like to thank him for his diligent efforts during that process, truly going above and beyond his call of duty. He is a true leader and advocate for education. We look forward to working with him in the future,” Sako said.

Although the faculty and staff of ECC presented the award to Kennedy in appreciation of his hard work, he made it a point to thank them on their efforts in educating the next generation of Erie County residents.

“I am honored to receive this award from the faculty and staff of ECC,” Kennedy said, “They are really what allows the institution to function at such a high level, and are all to be commended for their effort on a daily basis.”

Legislator Kennedy said he will always remain staunch advocate for the education of Erie County’s youth. Kennedy said he believes Erie Community College will play a critical and monumental role in educating the future of our great City and County.
