Legislator Kennedy Announces Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Day

Legislator Tim Kennedy recently announced that Erie County will hold a Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off day on Saturday June 16, 2007 at the Erie County Community College South Campus located in Orchard Park. This service is offered free-of-charge to all Erie County residents between the hours of 9:00a.m. and 2:00p.m.

Acceptable items for proper disposal include: automotive fluids (motor oils, gasoline, antifreeze, brake & transmission fluids), oil-based paints, paint strippers and thinners, spray paints, kerosene, lead-acid and rechargeable batteries, propane tanks or cylinders, pesticides, fertilizers, pool chemicals, and mercury.

Residents must prove that their hazardous materials were household generated. Erie County WILL NOT ACCEPT computers, automobile tires, appliances, commercial waste, or any industrial wastes at this event. Also note that latex paint WILL NOT be accepted. Automotive fluids and oil based paints MUST BE LIMITED to ten gallons. Pesticides are limited to two gallons or twenty pounds.
