Erie County Legislator Tim Kennedy announced the extension of the Sex Offender Petition Drive in light of the overwhelming response his office has received. The new deadline for petitions will be on July 31, 2005.

“I have extended the drive because of the thousands of signatures of support we have received,” Kennedy said, “We have been working diligently on this issue and are currently working with many entities, including the Buffalo Common Council and law enforcement departments, to develop a plan of action to resolve this important issue.”

Kennedy said he would like to reach his goal of at least 10,000 signatures to demonstrate the overwhelming support of residents of the City of Buffalo for the need of increased legislation supporting a more efficient sex offender neighborhood notification plan.
