Kennedy urges Governor to continue to support Buffalo School's Reconstruction

Project to Include Road Resurfacing and Streetscape Enhancements

Erie County Legislator Tim Kennedy (D-Buffalo, Erie County Economic Development Chairman) continues to fight on behalf of the Buffalo Public School System. Amidst the latest news of the Governor's potential veto of legislation relating to the fourth phase of the Buffalo Public School's reconstruction project, Kennedy immediately wrote to the Governor urging him to continue to support the needed renovations.

Two of the schools facing possible cuts are located within Legislator Kennedy's district. "Both Lorraine Academy and Southside Elementary are in need of improvements," stated Kennedy. "The long lasting, negative consequences of a veto to this piece of legislation would be severe to not only my district, but to all of Erie County."

In his letter, Kennedy also advocated on behalf of School #84, otherwise known as the Erie County Health Care Center for Children. Kennedy stated, "School #84 services students with multiple medical disabilities. As an Occupational Therapist who has worked with children with disabilities for years, I know first hand the significance of this building being included in Phase IV reconstruction. These children with special needs should not have to face unnecessary adversity, such as poor conditions within their school."
