KENNEDY ANNOUNCES HEALTH FAIR & COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Event will be held at Tosh Collins on Thursday, Oct. 1st
Erie County Legislator Tim Kennedy is pleased to invite all residents of the greater South Buffalo area to attend a Health Fair at the Tosh Collins Community Center on Thursday, October 1, 2009 from 9am-12pm. The Community Center, located at 35 Cazenovia Street, Buffalo, NY 14220, will feature vendors and participants from a range of governmental, community, and health care organizations.
Representatives from the Catholic Healthcare System (Living Independently for Elders, Mercy Skilled Nursing, and Partners in Rehab) will be present to complete blood pressure and pulse/oxygen screenings, as well as body fat composition testing. The program will feature a presentation at 10:30am from the Attorney General's Health Care Bureau regarding access to and information about healthcare in NY State, as well as representatives from the Erie County Department of Senior Services. While the focus remains on health and well-being, the program will also include services that can benefit the entire South Buffalo Community, such as HEAP: Home Energy Assistance Program, Supportive Services, which offers free employment counseling, Neighborhood Housing Services of South Buffalo, National Fuel, and Transplant Saves Lives, Inc.
"This health fair and community outreach is important because it provides direct access for the residents of greater South Buffalo to a wide variety of services and programs designed to ensure awareness of the programs and benefits available to all citizens of Erie County," Legislator Kennedy said. "The information that will be offered at this event will be invaluable to everyone in attendance and will greatly enhance our community's health and welfare."
