Legislator Kennedy Announces HEAP Outreach Locations
HEAP Applications Available at Legislator Kennedy's District Office
With the winter weather finally arriving, Legislator Tim Kennedy has announced that the annual HEAP Outreach Program will be visiting several locations throughout the second legislative district during the months of November and December. HEAP applications are available at Legislator Kennedy's district office, located at 1928 South Park Avenue.
- November 18th, 2008 - Sloan Village Hall, 425 Reiman St., Sloan, NY
- November 19th, 2008 - Autumnwood Senior Center, 1800 Clinton St., Buffalo, NY
- November 20th, 2008 - Old 1st Ward Community Center, 62 Republic St., Buffalo, NY
- December 4th, 2008 - Tosh Collins Community Center, 35 Cazenovia St., Buffalo, NY
- December 9th, 2008 - Valley Community Center, 93 Leddy St., Buffalo, NY
HEAP Outreach sites will be open from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM unless otherwise indicated. Interviews are conducted on a first come, first serve basis. Due to time limitations only the first 80 people will be guaranteed service; therefore, early arrival is suggested.
Legislator Kennedy stated, "These types of programs are an asset to the public; however, the paperwork which needs to be filled out can be confusing. With the help of Outreach Programs in our district, residents can obtain the help they need." Because the Outreach program is close to home, Kennedy stated that the Outreach Program allows people to avoid telephone calls and talk to real people, face to face. "This is a great example of putting government to work, essentially bringing county hall to our neighborhoods."
It is important for residents to bring the following items to the Outreach site:
- 1 form of ID for all household members (birth certificate, license, SS card)
- Proof of income received within the last 30 days for all household members (pay stubs, SS or pension award letters, proof of child support, rental income, unemployment benefits, worker's comp, etc.)
- Current shut off or disconnect notices if applicable
- Proof of all household resources including current checking and savings account, bank statements, proof of other resources (stocks, bonds, IRAs, 401k, etc.)
- If applicant is missing information they may be allowed to mail the information to HEAP offices in order to complete the application process. There are however no guarantees.
For more information regarding the HEAP Outreach locations, dates, required documentation or eligibility requirements, feel free to contact the HEAP department through their HEAP hotline at 858-7870.
