COUNTY LEGISLATOR MILLER-WILLIAMS PRAISES CAPITAL FUNDING APPROVAL FOR ECC PROJECTS
Erie County Legislator Barbara Miller-Williams (D-3rd District, Buffalo) is pleased that the County Legislature recently approved about $52 million in capital spending for 2007 projects through the use of "mirror bonds."
"I am particularly pleased that the borrowing we approved will allow the county to continue its expansion and improvement work for Erie Community College, especially at the City Campus," Legislator Miller-Williams said. "This includes converting a building at 45 Oak Street, which the county currently owns, into an ECC building."
Legislator Miller-Williams noted that this is the first part of a major effort to improve and increase the academic offerings and other services at the ECC City Campus, which she represents as the 3rd District County Legislator.
"Along with the building conversion, in 2008 our plans point to borrowing $17 million to build a new academic building and a parking facility at the downtown ECC campus," Legislator Miller-Williams said. "I am very excited about these specific projects at ECC and what they represent for the 3rd District and downtown Buffalo. This will bring increased educational opportunities, more jobs and more people to downtown to patronize businesses there. This is a win-win situation for all involved."
