COUNTY LEGISLATOR MILLER-WILLIAMS ANNOUNCES COUNTY TREE, SHRUB SEEDLING PROGRAM ACCEPTING ORDERS
Erie County Legislator Barbara Miller-Williams (D-3rd District, Buffalo) is announcing that the Erie County Soil and Water Conservation District is accepting orders for its annual Conservation Tree and Shrub Seedling Program.
Orders for trees and shrubs are due by Thursday, March 20, 2008, and the pickup day will be Saturday, April 19, at The Fairgrounds, 5600 McKinley Parkway in Hamburg.
The 2008 selection has 34 varieties of trees and shrubs chosen for conservation uses and practices. The one- to three-year-old bare root seedlings range from 6 to 24 inches tall and are available in lots of 10 to 500. Seedling combination packs and wildflower seed mixes designed to attract wildlife are also available from the program. The conservation district is also offering an expanded selection of four-year-old evergreen transplants, which are more mature trees with thicker stems, more branching and more developed roots.
Order forms can be picked up at Legislator Miller-Williams' Office at 427 William Street, Buffalo, or by calling 842-0490. The order forms can also be printed from the Erie County Soil and Water Conservation District web site at www.ecswcd.org.
