COUNTY LEGISLATOR MILLER-WILLIAMS ANNOUNCES GARAGE SALE TO BENEFIT YWCA SCHEDULED SEPTEMBER 6

Erie County Legislator Barbara Miller-Williams (D-Buffalo, 3rd District) is announcing that a garage sale to benefit the YWCA of Western New York's Community Café will be held from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, September 6, at the Broadway Market, 999 Broadway in Buffalo.

The Community Café, located at 224 Gibson Street, Buffalo, is one of the sites that helps provide for volunteer community outreach volunteers to inform residents of and help them access the available services, including Neighborhood Legal Services, Senior Services and Crisis Services; find affordable housing and assist homeless people find immediate shelter and/or permanent housing; link people to treatment services for mental health issues and addiction; provide food referrals to local pantries; advocate and link people to services to help prevent utility shutoffs and evictions, and assist residents to access mainstream benefits such as food stamps, Medicaid and public assistance.

The YWCA provides the volunteer resource outreach personnel at the Community Café, as well as at sites such as the office of County Legislator Miller-Williams, 427 Williams Street; Response to Love, and the Broadway Market. The YWCA hopes that the opening of the Community Café will allow for a central location, more hours and more staff to assist residents of the Lower East Side.
