RANZENHOFER ANNOUNCES HEAP OUTREACH

Erie County Legislator Michael H. Ranzenhofer (R-Clarence) announced today that he will be sponsoring a Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) outreach from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, January 19, 2005. The event will be held at the Newstead Town Hall, which is located at the corner of Church and John Streets in the Village of Akron.

HEAP is a federally funded income based program designed to help residents afford rising energy costs. Eligibility is based on household size and gross monthly income. This outreach can process 90 applications and will be held on a first come, first serve basis.

Ranzenhofer noted that attendees are asked to bring the following information:

  • Record of income for the past four weeks (income includes SSA, social security, pensions, student loans, alimony, child support, unemployment, workers compensation, disability, veteran's benefits, and rental income)
  • Proof of citizenship (birth certificate, passport, naturalization papers, baptismal record, or hospital records from birth)
  • Social Security Cards for all residing in the home
  • Most recent fuel bills
  • Bank interest statements for one year and either a lease or mortgage book

For monthly income eligibility limits or additional HEAP outreach information, please contact the Erie County Department of Senior Services HEAP hotline at 858-7870, or Legislator Ranzenhofer's District Office at 631-8695.
