Erie County Legislator Michael H. Ranzenhofer (R-Newstead) recently visited the Newstead Senior Center to take a look at four new computer systems in the Center's new computer training room. Legislator Ranzenhofer had previously secured$15,000 in county funding to establish the computer training room and purchase the computers for seniors at the Center.
"I'm excited to see our seniors utilizing these new computer systems, and getting to know some of the basic aspects of this important technology," said Ranzenhofer. "Hopefully, through the introductions of these computers, our neighbors at the Newstead Senior Center will find great use in this new equipment."
The equipment purchased for the Newstead Senior Center will provide seniors the opportunity to have hands-on training in Windows and on the World Wide Web. The Center is already offering classes, under the instruction of computer teacher Michele Asmus. Ranzenhofer worked with Newstead Supevisor Gerald R. Summe and the Newstead Town Board to obtain the equipment for the Center.
"With our changing world, these computers will give our Newstead seniors an opportunity to practice and learn on equipment that is re-defining all of our lives," added Ranzenhofer. "I'm pleased to have been able to help with the funding."
