Ranzenhofer Announces Funding For North French Road Rehabilitation
(Amherst, New York) – On Thursday, March 1, 2007 the Erie County Legislature authorized a $1.9 million contract with Accadia Site Contracting, Inc. for the rehabilitation of North French Road in the Town of Amherst between Sweet Home Road and Transit Road, encompassing 4.9 miles of roadway. Legislator Michael H. Ranzenhofer remarked that "residents are looking forward to improving this heavily traveled roadway this spring." Ranzenhofer also said that "80% of this project is funded with federal dollars, 15% with state dollars, and a 5% local Erie County share."
The project awarded by the Legislature consists of pavement rehabilitation, asphalt resurfacing, partial and full depth reconstruction of the road's shoulder, and a culvert replacement. The culvert being replaced is located just west of Dodge Road. During this replacement process, which will take approximately three weeks, the roadway in the vicinity of the culvert will be closed. Legislator Barry A. Weinstein, MD added that "vehicle access to homes and other driveways will be maintained at all times throughout the duration of the rehabilitation project." During pavement rehabilitation operations, two-way traffic will be maintained along the project corridor during both working and non-working hours with minimal delays caused by temporary lane closures. A detour route will be set up on Hopkins and Dodge Roads to help residents avoid construction delays.
