Ranzenhofer Supports Akron Airport
(Akron-New York) On Thursday March 1, 2007 the Erie County Legislature passed a resolution sponsored by Legislator Michael H. Ranzenhofer regarding a request for state grant funds from Christian Airmen, Inc. Christian Airmen, Inc. is applying for state funded grants under the New York State Transportation Bond Act in order to undertake improvement projects at the Akron Airport.
Grant funds are being requested from the Airport Improvement and Revitalization Program (AIR '99), and will be used for the installation of a new water main and septic system, to acquire and update maintenance equipment, and for the construction of a new T-Hanger at the airport. Legislator Ranzenhofer said "I am happy to support the Christian Airmen's request for grant funding for these projects; I think they are appropriate and will benefit the Akron Airport long term."
Christian Airmen, Inc. has also applied for grants through the Business Airport Development Program and the General Aviation Airport Security Program. The Business Airport Development Program will provide funding for the replacement of the existing terminal building and the General Aviation Airport Security Program will provide the necessary funding for cave security and fence repairs around the facility.
Ranzenhofer added that "the New York State Department of Transportation Law requires that grant applications made by privately owned airports be accompanied by a resolution from the governing body of the county in which the airport is located." Legislator Ranzehofer co-sponsored the resolution that endorsed Christian Airmen's grant application. Ranzenhofer's resolution was passed by the Legislature unanimously, completing Christian Airmen, Inc, grant application requirements.
