Ranzenhofer Congratulates the Amherst Bee on 100 Years of Publication!

Legislature of the County of Erie
Buffalo, New York, April 5, 2007, A.D.

I HEREBY CERTIFY, that at a regular session of the Legislature of Erie County, held in the County Hall, in the City of Buffalo, on the fifth day of April, A.D. 2007, a resolution was adopted, of which the following is a true copy:

Re: Ranzenhofer & Weinstein Congratulation the Amherst Bee on 100 years of operation

Whereas, A century ago, George J. Measer Sr. purchased "The Weekly," from the widow of Adam Rinewalt, which later became the Amherst Bee, and

Whereas, The Amherst Bee has evolved over time into a family of newspapers known as the Bee Group Newspapers which service residents throughout Erie County, and

Whereas, The family business has expanded significantly since George Measer Sr. bought the Amherst Bee on March 18, 1907, much of that growth materializing under the direction of his son George Measer Jr., and

Whereas, The Bee Group Newspapers currently publishes nine suburban weekly newspapers that cater to interests and topics beyond day to day headlines, and

Whereas, The Amherst Bee is the flagship publication of the Bee Group Newspapers which is celebrating 100 years of operation this year, and

Now, therefore be it

Resolved, that Members of the Erie County Legislature paused in their deliberations on April 5, 2007 to honor the Amherst Bee and the Measer Family on 100 successful years of publication, and be it further

Resolved, that this honorable body congratulates the Bee Group Newspapers as they celebrate the centennial anniversary of the Amherst Bee.
