Legislator Ranzenhofer Announces Progress on Tonawanda Creek Road Reconstruction
(Clarence, New York) – On Thursday, April 24, 2008, the Erie County Legislature authorized County Executive Chris Collins to enter into an agreement to secure the right-of-way necessary to proceed with the reconstruction of Tonawanda Creek Road. Tonawanda Creek Road collapsed as the result of severe storms and the road has been approved for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and New York State Emergency Management Office (SEMO) funding.
Approval of the authorization to obtain the right-of-way allows the project to move forward. Erie County is due to be reimbursed for 75% of the design and construction costs by FEMA and 12.5% by SEMO. Legislator Ranzenhofer explained that the project could not be sent out for bid until right-of-way is acquired. After awarding the bid, construction can begin.
