RANZENHOFER ANNOUNCES PUBLIC HEARING ON AGRICULTURAL DISTRICTS

Erie County Legislator Michael H. Ranzenhofer (R-Clarence) announced today that a public hearing will be held concerning the 8-year review of the Alden-Newstead and Clarence-Newstead Agriculatural Districts on Monday, August 2 at 7:00 p.m. at the Newstead Town Hall, Church and John Streets in the Village of Akron.

"The eight-year review process of agricultural districts is an important one as it creates the framework for farmland protection until the next review," said Ranzenhofer, who serves on the Legislature's Energy and Environment Committee. "To ensure that the stakeholders have proper input into the proposal package that will be put before the County Legislature, this final public hearing will give them the opportunity to express their opinions on the modifications."

Ranzenhofer pointed out that the public hearing is the last step in a process to review proposals for modifications that began in the spring, and included an informational meeting and tour of the district. Before the draft of the new district boundaries go to the County Legislature for final approval, he noted, the public will have a right to review it.
