A LOCAL LAW to amend the Erie County Charter in relation to the establishment of a dedicated amount of annual funding for highways and bridges within the County of Erie.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNTY OF ERIE AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. Local Law No. 1959, constituting the Erie County Charter is hereby amended by adding a new Section 1815 to Article XVIII, Financial Procedures, to read as follows:

Section 1815: Dedicated Funding for Highways and Bridges
(a) The County of Erie shall dedicate in its annual budget a minimum sum of $12,500,000 from sales tax revenues for the construction and maintenance of highways and bridges of the County of Erie.

(b) The sales tax revenues to be dedicated will be from any authorization for the extension of the additional 1% sales and compensating tax effective March 1, 2008, and would require effective March 1, 2008, that the first $12,500,000 of the net collections therefrom be subject to the dedication of highways for the maintenance and construction of the highways and bridges of the County of Erie.

SECTION 2. This Local Law shall take effect immediately upon filing with the Secretary of State.
