LEGISLATOR KONST APPOINTED FINANCE AND MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE CHAIR

Erie County Legislator Kathy Konst has been appointed Chairperson to the Legislature's Finance and Management Committee. Konst will also serve on the Legislature's Energy & Environment and Vice–Chair of Economic Development Committees.

"I am so very pleased to have this opportunity to chair this vital committee," Legislator Konst said. "These committee assignments will help me address the important needs of both business and citizens throughout the county."

The Erie County Legislature's Finance and Management Committee holds responsibility for oversight of the county's over $1 billion annual fiscal budget.

"The Finance and Management Committee works to ensure that taxpayer dollars are spent in a responsible and appropriate manner and I take that responsibility very seriously," Legislator Konst said.

Konst noted that the Legislature's Economic Development Committee handles a wide range of topics concerning economic development and job creation issues in Erie County. The Economic Development Committee regularly acts upon issues relating to repair and maintenance of county roads and bridges, general county infrastructure repair on buildings and other physical plant facilities including Erie Community College, the Central Library, and Ralph Wilson Stadium.

The Legislature Energy & Environment Committee affects the work of the following departments: Public Works, Parks, Environmental Protection and The Erie County Water Authority. In reality, the services falling under the umbrella of Energy and Environment are our county's parks systems, delivery of safe drinking water, electrical power, safe and efficient removal of sewage from Erie County homes and hazardous waste.
