Tree and Shrub Seedling Program
Erie County Legislator Kathy Konst (5th District) today announced that the Erie County Soil and Water District would be accepting orders for their annual Tree and Shrub Seedling Program. All orders must be received by March 24. Orders will be available for pickup at the Erie County Fairgrounds in Hamburg on April 22.
Konst noted that the program offered 33 varieties of trees and shrubs. They are sold as one to three year old bare root seedlings and will range from 6 to 24 inches tall. Four-year-old evergreen transplants are also available; these transplants have thicker stems, more branches and larger root systems than bare-root seedlings. Seedling combination packs and wildflower seed mixes designed to attract wildlife are also for sale.
"I would encourage all the residents of Erie County to participate in the tree and shrub seeding program that is being offered" said Ms. Konst. She went on to say, "There is such a wide verity of plants, fertilizer tables and tree shelters that you can order just in time for spring."
