The Erie County Legislature passed a resolution that prohibits Variable minimum
The Erie County Legislature passed a resolution that prohibits the County Executive from awarding his appointee a higher rate of pay than what was budgeted. Kathy Konst co-sponsored of the resolution said, " This resolution corrected a wrong in the 2006 County Budget." She went on to state " This Legislation will forbid the County Executive from awarding additional monies to newly hired individuals without Legislative approval. We feel that it is an important first step in reforming the County Budget."
Previous to yesterday's action the County Executive was able to award more money to a new hire at will. The new Legislation requires the Erie County Legislature to approve the request from the County Executive to grant additional compensation in cases where there are difficulties in recruiting qualified individuals.
