KONST ANNOUNCES CAPITAL UPGRADES AT ERIE COUNTY HOME
Erie County Legislator Kathy Konst (D-5th District) announced a package of capital improvements that will be undertaken at the Erie County Home. The legislation to approve this infusion of county investment in the facility in Alden occurred at the most recent meeting of the County Legislature.
"I am pleased that the Erie County Legislature was able to address three critical infrastructure needs at the Erie County Home," Legislator Konst said. "Our action will result in an upgrade to the fire alarm system, modernization of the elevators and the completion of necessary electrical work to support an emergency generator that will keep the kitchen fully operation, with adequate lighting, during a power outage."
Legislator Konst noted that the approximately 500 residents of the Erie County Home are well cared for by dedicated staff in a clean environment. She toured the facility a number of times, and the capital needs mentioned above were brought to her attention.
"The Erie County Home is an asset to all of Erie County, although it is located in my district. The recently approved capital program at the Home enjoyed the overwhelming support of my colleagues. They agreed that these projects address fundamental safety and care issues, and that time was of the essence in moving these projects along," Legislator Konst said.
Legislator Konst further noted that the improvements will be welcomed by employees at the Home, whose safety and well-being is also the concern of the legislators.
"I want to thank the Department of Public Works for responding to the concerns of legislators on behalf of those who cannot speak for themselves, the most medically frail residents of our community who reside in the Erie County Home," Legislator Konst concluded.
