Konst Announces Home Energy Assistance Program Outreach
Erie County Legislator Kathy Konst announced that the Erie County Department of Senior Services will be holding a free Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) Outreach on Friday, January 25, 2008, at the Lancaster Senior Center, 100 Oxford Avenue, from 9 am to 4 pm. The Outreach will be held on a first come, first served basis.
"As a result of cold temperatures and rising energy costs there has been a tremendous financial strain put on many residents in Erie County," said Konst. "I am proud to be able to bring this program directly to our community, and help relieve families of some of their overwhelming high energy costs."
Konst noted that the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a federally funded energy assistance program. This program is structured in such a way that higher benefits are provided to those households that: have larger percentages of their income spent on energy costs; contain a vulnerable individual; and have the lowest income.
