LEGISLATOR WHYTE APPLAUDS WARRANT SQUAD, JUDGE NOWAK FOR WARRANT ISSUED AGAINST ISAAC S
Empowered by the newly restored County Warrant Squad, Judge Henry Nowak was able to issue this afternoon a warrant for the arrest of Jesse Isaacs. Isaacs, a resident of Rockland County, is one of the most notorious "flippers" in Western New York, owing upwards of $90,000 to the City of Buffalo's Housing Court.
"This is a victory for our neighborhoods and our families," stated Erie County Legislator Maria Whyte (D-Buffalo). "Every homeowner who has witnessed his or her property value decline and every parent who has kept their child indoors because of an ill-kept or abandoned house next door should be thrilled."
Whyte, an urban-based Legislator representing the West Side of Buffalo and the Black Rock Riverside neighborhoods, successfully championed the restoration of the Warrant Squad during the 2008 Budget hearings. In December, Whyte and Sheriff Timothy Howard declared the squad an important tool in fighting blight.
"The residents of the 6th District have told me time and again that neighborhood revitalization is their number one priority," Whyte said. "I'm proud to say that I delivered on a promise and fought for this important funding."
