Why:
Erie County is one of only four counties in NYS without regional planning, contributing to uncoordinated development, a poor local economy, sprawling infrastructure, and high taxes. The purpose of the Committee meeting is discuss how a County Planning Board can draw Erie County out of the dark ages and facilitate better economic development in our region. Ciminelli, one of upstate New York's leading developers, will testify that a Planning Board can remove some of the "hidden costs" of development and expedite the process of getting a project off the ground. Hoyt will testify regarding the various state grants Erie County could be eligible for if county-wide planning were implemented.
