BUFFALO'S FIRST OFF-LEASH DOG PARK TO OPEN

Hoyt and Whyte join community leaders for official launch

On Saturday, August 4 at 10 a.m., New York State Assemblymember Sam Hoyt and Erie County Legislator Maria Whyte will announce the creation of Buffalo's first off-leash dog park at LaSalle Park on the City's lower West side. Park advocates Jay McCarthy and Reed Stevens, DVM, who have been instrumental in driving this project, will be on hand to discuss the future of dog parks in Buffalo. Representatives from Buffalo-Niagara Riverkeeper will also be in attendance.

The dog park, which was the site of a one-day off leash area during Old Home Week in July, will be open to the public until October 15. Plans are underway to establish a permanent, year-round dog park at LaSalle as well as other locations throughout the City.
