MAJORITY LEADER WHYTE, COUNTY LEGISLATURE HONORS ORGANIZERS OF ANNUAL PUERTO RICAN DAY PARADE

Erie County Legislature Majority Leader Maria R. Whyte (D-Buffalo) and the Erie County Legislature honored the organizers and participants in the fourth annual Puerto Rican Day Parade at the County Legislature's September 14 session.

Those receiving certificates of appreciation were members of the Executive Steering Committee: Miguel Santos, president; Anita Leon, vice president; Charles Torres, vice president; Irma Lorenzo, secretary; Carmen Doeseckle, treasurer, and Edgar Martinez, sergeant-at-arms. The Legislature also honored Andres Garcia, president of the Western New York Hispanic Friends and Civic Association, who served as this year's parade grand marshal and received a certificate.

The Fourth annual Puerto Rican Day Parade was held Saturday, September 9, with the slogan "Unidos Progresamos!" or "United We Progress!" The parade concluded with a concert, children's activities and information held at LaSalle Park.
