COUNTY LEGISLATOR WROBLEWSKI LEADS PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE ACCEPTING $500,000 EMERGENCY FUNDING
Erie County Legislator Timothy M. Wroblewski (D-West Seneca, South Cheektowaga) led the Legislature's Public Safety Committee in unanimously approving the acceptance of more than $500,000 in New York State Wireless 911 fees at its January 15 meeting.
The committee, which Legislator Wroblewski chairs, approved the county' acceptance of $542,469 from the New York State Local Enhanced Wireless 911 program for reimbursement of costs associated with providing wireless 911 services.
"This funding will allow the county to be reimbursed for certain costs associated with Wireless 911 services provided through the Department of Central Police Services," Legislator Wroblewski said. "We will also use these funds to upgrade the public safety communications system in Erie County.
"I am proud that we will be able to upgrade the 400 megahertz public safety communications system," Legislator Wroblewski added. "Our police, sheriffs, firefighters and other emergency personnel deserve the proper equipment to perform their jobs to the best of their abilities, keeping the public and themselves as safe as possible. I am gratified that our actions are leading to improved emergency services and responses."
Legislator Wroblewski noted that mobile data terminals will be bought with this funding, and that all Erie County police agencies will receive the new equipment.
