COUNTY LEGISLATOR WROBLEWSKI RECOMMENDS RESIDENTS TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ENHANCED LICENSES
Erie County Legislator Timothy M. Wroblewski (D-West Seneca, South Cheektowaga) is recommending 9th District residents to take advantage of the New York State enhanced driver's license program through the Erie County Clerk's Office.
"An enhanced driver's license is an optional travel document that also serves as a New York State Driver's License that will be accepted as an alternative to a passport for all land and sea travel between the United States, Canada and other places. They are valid for eight years, the same as a regular state license," Legislator Wroblewski said. "As of June 2009, the Department of Homeland Security will require airline passengers to use either an enhanced license or a passport for domestic flights. I appreciate County Clerk Kathy Hochul for getting the word out on these enhanced driver's licenses."
Legislator Wroblewski noted that county residents seeking more information on the enhanced driver's licenses and how to apply for them should contact the County Clerk's office at 858-7450, or by going to the County Clerk's Office web site at www.erie.gov/clerk and clicking on the enhanced license icon. Residents can also call his office at 675-8817 to get an application sent to them.
