Legislator Hardwick announces Unwanted Pharmaceutical Drop-Off Day
To be held 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 10
(Cheektowaga, NY) – Erie County Legislator Kevin Hardwick has announced that Erie County has partnered with local agencies to hold an Unwanted Pharmaceutical Drop-Off Day. Controlled substances, expired, unusable, and unwanted household prescription or over-the-counter medicines will be accepted.
Residents are invited to drop off items from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 10, at Sisters Hospital, St. Joseph Campus – in front of the Caritas Building, 2605 Harlem Road in Cheektowaga. For information, call 858-6800 option 3.
Participants are asked to bring medications in the original labeled container – personal information can be blacken out. The purpose of the day is to reduce the amount of pharmaceuticals that are disposed of improperly and contaminate drinking water. Residents are also encouraged to remove unneeded prescriptions from homes to reduce the risk of abuse and accidental poisoning.
