LEGISLATOR IANNELLO ANNOUNCES COMPUTER, ELECTRONICS RECYCLING DAY TO BE HELD AT GM POWERTRAIN PLANT JUNE 6
Erie County Legislator Michele M. Iannello (D-Kenmore, Grand Island) is announcing that a recycling day sponsored by the Erie County Department of Environment and Planning and the City of Buffalo will be held from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, June 6, at the GM Powertrain Plant 5 on Vulcan Street between Niagara Street./River Road and Kenmore Avenue, in Buffalo.
The items that can be brought in for recycling include computers, CRTs or monitors, keyboards and mice, printers and scanners, fluorescent bulbs, cell phones, rechargeable batteries, VCRs, DVD players and televisions. Participants will be required to verify that materials are generated by households.
The recycling day will also feature collection of clothing and textiles, which will be reused at AMVETS retail locations or be recycled; people donating such items should make sure that they are not soiled. All bicycles collected will be used by the Blue Bicycle and Rent-a-Bicycle programs to teach riders of all ages the skills associated with bicycle repair and maintenance, safety and help the environment by reducing the amount of unused bicycles going into the waist stream.
Buffalo ReUse will be accepting used or new hand shop and garden tools (no power tools) that are in good condition, such as rakes, brooms, clippers, ladders, wheelbarrows, hoses, hammers, wrenches and saws, even coffee cans full of nails and screws. All donated tools are tax deductions, and the tools will be lent to block clubs and community groups for neighborhood beautification and repair projects.
